Hpboy13's Fanfics
Hpboy13 specializes in songfics, having written 10 so far, with 9 of them being from the musical "Wicked". He started writing fanfiction right after HBP came out; he was so impatient to find out what happened next that he decided to simply write his own version. The resulting fanfic, "Harry Potter and the Horcruxes," took an entire year to right and was close to the size of the first book - his longest fanfic to date. Hpboy13's one true pairing is Neville/Luna, which pops up in most of his fanfics, but has yet to have a fanfic devoted to itself. He wrote an essay about it before the last book came out, which can now be found at The Leaky Cauldron, and positively refuses to accept that it is not canon. As conclusive proof, he asked the continuity editor of the books, Cheryl Klein, whether she thought Neville/Luna should have happened, and she replied that she could see it happening after the sixth book. His current projects, should he ever get around to them, include a post-DH fanfic about Angelina Johnson dealing with Fred's death called "Life Goes On," as well as a conclusion to the angsty trilogy about Remus and Tonks - No Good Deed and She Who Has All. He is also co-writing a Bellagulus fanfic with Bella of Bella and le Strangers, but that fic has yet to see the light of day.
Response to RDR vs JKR
Hpboy13 was an immense supporter of the Lexicon and RDR in their case against Warner Bros and J.K. Rowling, oftentimes participating in vigorous debates over the issue. He was so disgusted by Jo's actions that for a while he stopped writing all fanfiction, leaving many unfinished or planned fanfics undone. He maintains that he's not swearing them off for life, but is fed up with the lack of respect for the fans being evidenced by Jo and, to a much greater extent, Warner Bros. He has even gone so far as to decide not to buy the anniversary edition of Sorcerer's Stone, and now intends to use his spare time to work on his memoir and original fantasy novel. Hpboy13 broke his abstinence for the Unknowable Room Fic Exchange, because he's never participated in one before and thought it would be a fun thing to try. He was nothing short of ecstatic when it was announced that the book would be released after all with some changes made. He got it the day it came out and thoroughly enjoyed it. He will return to fanfiction one day, upon the conclusion of the aforementioned projects.
Hpboy13's Cosplay
Hpboy13 dressed up as Professor McGonagall for Halloween in 2008. At his high school, cross-dressing is insanely popular, but Hpboy13's boobs were considered the best out of all the guys' (for all the people bursting with curiousity, they were balloons). Hpboy13 submitted his costume for Mugglenet's Costume Contest, and was chosen as 25 semi-finalists. Even though he had begged everyone he knows to vote for him, and swore that if he won he would give a shoutout to UR for helping him, he did not get chosen as one of the seven finalists. He accepted the loss graciously, saying that it's still a great honor to be one of the semi-finalists and that there's always next year. And yes, he is aware of how scarily good he looks as an old lady.
In October of 2009, hpboy13 participated in the New York City Zombie Crawl as the Inferi version of Sirius Black. He most definitely traumatized several people, many tourists, and one little girl who will likely never set foot in Starbucks again. He was widely acknowledged as the scariest of the hundreds of undead terrors that swept through Manhattan that night.
For Halloween in 2009, hpboy13 dressed up as Nymphadora Tonks. The boobs were even bigger this year, because Tonks can change her appearance at will, and was trying to impress Remus. Hpboy13 attended a Halloween party thrown by Hunter DA, and won the award for Sexiest Costume, and honor on par with Mugglenet's Costume Contest. In December of 2009, hpboy13 attended a Yule Ball thrown by Hunter DA and Evil Day 2 (a huge party thrown by The Group that Shall Not be Named, see below) dressed as Regulus Black. He made the most use of creative props with this outfit, including Slytherin's locket, a Black family goblet, and a very creepy Death Eater mask. At Evil Day 2, it was widely remarked that he looked very good with long black hair; so good, in fact, that two women cosplaying Bellatrix fell in love with him. This gave birth to the Bellatrix/Regulus ship. There were also handcuffs involved.
Hpboy13 participated in the costume contest at Evil Day 2, and won the award for Most Festive Costume. The contest came down to a walk-off between hpboy13 and the runner-up, and hpboy13 won because no one can strut their stuff like he can. The prize was a Slug Club t-shirt.
Also that weekend, hpboy13 did an impromptu cosplay of Remus Lupin. He had with him a stuffed bear dressed as Teddy. Ironically, that night there was a full moon, and hpboy13 and his friends stumbled upon a chocolate store reminiscent of Honeydukes. Wierd. Later, when they went to dinner, they got a high chair for Teddy, since Remus has to act like a good father. They also found a stuffed black dog, which hpboy13 took naughty Sirius/Remus pictures with.
In March 2010, hpboy13 cosplayed Bellatrix Lestrange for TGTSNBN's cosplay day. Using just the right mixture of sexiness, scariness, and depravity, he turned an awful lot of heads that day. He was groped by many people that day, and took many pictures with women with hands on each other's breasts. He acted out Bellatrix's duel against Tonks, Harry, and Molly Weasley. Once again, Bellagulus pictures were taken, with the roles reversed, of course. Also, after traipsing around hills in heels all day, hpboy13 gained an awful lot of respect for women.Later in March, one of his friends, Staci, threw a bondage-themed birthday party. So while it wasn't bondage per se, hpboy13 dressed as Lord Voldemort from A Very Potter Musical. Complete with white makeup which seemed to absorb into his skin, but showed up in pictures. It was a hilarious party, with hpboy13 taking "Quirrellmort style" pictures with all of the guests.
In April 2010, hpboy13 attended a wizard rock show that had The Whomping Willows playing. So he decided to dress up as Harry Potter and his friend Jennifer dressed as Draco Malfoy, and they acted totally inappropriately during Whompy's song "Draco and Harry". They also took many romantic pictures together. Hpboy13 even had tape on his glasses which was so convincing that several friends asked exasperatedly what he'd done to break his glasses.
Later in May, hpboy13 finally realized his dream of attending a Harry Potter conference. He went to Expeditious 2010, a very small conference in Ann Arbor, Michigan, hosted by The Fifth House. While there, he finally put his Hufflepuff side into his cosplay and dressed as Cedric Diggory. He dressed as Cedric in student robes during the day, and then changed into Cedric at the Yule Ball. He even had "Diggory" written on his back (which made telling confused people who he was supposed to be much easier). He saw quite a few great cosplays there, and met many amazing people. It was probably one of the best weekends of his life, and he can't wait to go to another con. He barely slept all weekend, pulling an all-nighter the final night. He is still emailing back and forth with the friends he made there.
In June and July, hpboy13 also reprised a few of his most popular outfits. At a big party that he threw called "Hogwarts '80s Prom," which was a replacement for his actual prom (that he had no inclination to go to), he reprised his Cedric outfit (since Cedric was at Hogwarts towards the end of the 1980s). Since he was the host of the party, he didn't win the McClaggens contest for the first time. He also reprised his Bellatrix outfit for a Dancing Death Eaters video shoot. He shocked everyone by being able to dance with boobs - it's really not as hard as some girls make it out to be.
In the future, he has plans to cosplay Cho Chang, the other Black sisters, and maybe Severus Snape down the line.
Membership in TGTSNBN
Beginning in 2008, hpboy13 has gotten much more involved in the actual real-life fandom outside the Internet. It started with him going to Melissa Anelli's book signing for Harry, A History in Borders. He then attended the live PotterCast 176 that discussed The Tales of Beedle the Bard on December 5, 2008, where he met up with The Group that Shall Not be Named, which he subsequently joined. Since then, he's become one of the group's most active members.
Hpboy13 is a huge fan of attending live podcasts, having attended two live PotterCasts and one live MuggleCast. Coincidentally, the first live episode of each that he attended was number 176, which is also the number of the elementary school he attended. It's slightly creepy, but also pretty cool.
Hpboy13 has become a huge fan of wizard rock, going to almost all the shows in New York City. He is a huge fan of The Moaning Myrtles, Swish and Flick, Witherwings, and RiddleTM. He even saw Harry and the Potters in concert once, which was an amazing and unforgettable experience. He eagerly awaits the day he will see Ministry of Magic perform live.
Hpboy13 plays Quidditch for the Central Park Centaurs, playing the position of Seeker. He is considered one of the fastest players in the league, as well as the most reckless, having had some quite spectacular wipeouts over his career. When there's a game the Centaurs aren't playing, he takes on the role of the Snitch. Called the "fastest Snitch we've ever seen," hpboy13 vexes Seekers to no end.
Hpboy13 participated in the first Triwizard Tournament that TGTSNBN hosted in September 2009 on the Beauxbatons team. During the first round, a round-robin of Quidditch matches, hpboy13 was faced with an obnoxious Twittering Snitch, and came up with a strategy with his team that had him playing Beater for the first time in his life. Not quite as good a Beater as a Seeker, he nevertheless kept up, and Beauxbatons came in a close second to the Hogwarts team. The second task, a series of twelve three-way duels, was hpboy13's time to shine. Winning two of Beauxbatons's seven victories, hpboy13 helped Beauxbatons win the second task and earned his reputation as TGTSNBN's most formidable dueler. The third task, from the Wizarding Academy of Dramatic Arts, was to put on a skit. The Beauxbatons team had to make one surrounding Snape's Worst Nightmare, and produced a comedic masterpiece about Snape dreaming that all his students started talking about homosexuality and all the male students hit on him. Hpboy13 was one of the students hitting on Snape, notable for a sexy strut and talk of beaker wanks. Beauxbatons once again saw victory, and won the tournament, with Hogwarts in a close second and Durmstrang in a very distant third.Hpboy13 attended Evil Day 2, the biggest party TGTSNBN has ever thrown, and even survived the blizzard that night. Displaying a very rare Gryffindor moment, he offered up his seat in a warm and toasty car, and walked through the blizzard in sneakers and jeans. He has since decided to take to heart the most important lesson found in the Harry Potter books: the importance of warm socks.
He awaits the day when he'll be able to go to a legitimate midnight party (he went to a midnight release party at Walmart for the seventh book because he was in the Poconos for the summer), with the release of the seventh movie looking to be the first opportunity available. He did make it to the New York City premier of the sixth movie, even dragging his best friend along, where he got an autograph from Rupert Grint, Emma Watson (who is even better looking in person), and Warwick Davis. Those autographs are among his most prized possessions.
Making Headlines
A month later, in July, the Deathly Hallows paperback was released. The Scholastic store in Soho threw a small release party for the occasion. Hpboy13 attended; in fact, he was there the entire time, and people began suspecting that he worked there. He won trivia contests, and later helped the employees come up with new questions. He made a wand and bought lots of merchandise and took lots of pictures. Towards the end, he was joined by several members of TGTSNBN. Afterwards, he typed up a detailed report of the event and sent it to the fansites. On July 21, Leaky made a news post to celebrate the two-year anniversary of the release of the last book, and featured hpboy13's fan report. Once again, there was a lot of squeeing on hpboy13's part.
Dark Lord of the Dance
Hpboy13 has been ballroom dancing since he was six years old. After several months with TGTSNBN, people began begging him to impart his knowledge. So he decided to attempt to teach these Harry Potter fans how to dance, in the hopes of performing at Evil Day 2. The group only performs to wizard rock songs, and usually ones about Death Eaters, leading the troop to be known as the Dancing Death Eaters. Hpboy13 is the leader, known as the Dark Lord of the Dance, and so far there are sixteen Death Eaters who perform with him.Hpboy13 taught the Dancing Death Eaters how to dance in five lessons, with their debut performance being at Evil Day 2. There, they performed two numbers. The first was a tango to "Death Eater Tango" by The Butterbeer Experience. The second was a salsa to "Like a Death Eater" by Swish and Flick (who was a member of the Dancing Death Eaters and performed with them). Their performance was featured on Wizrocklopedia to general acclaim.
The Dancing Death Eaters performed again at TGTSNBN's 200th Meetup Celebration, with slightly reduced numbers, but with the assistance of house-elves who robed them when neccessary. They performed the two dances again, and debuted a new dance as well: a samba set to "99 Death Eaters" by Draco and the Malfoys. It went really well, and the crowd was cheering the whole time (usually with very inappropriate comments on the hotness of the Dancing Death Eaters).
The Dancing Death Eaters are an expanding group, and are preparing for their next performance. Their performance at Evil Day 2 can be seen here. Their performance at the 200th Meetup Celebration can be seen here.
