Two-Way Mirror

The Two-Way Mirrors are a pair of mirrors that enables two people in different locations to talk to each other. They are small and rectangular (OP38).
To communicate, one person says the name of the person with the other mirror into the mirror they possess. If the second person's mirror is on their person, they can "answer" and the two can communicate (OP38).
Sirius Black and James Potter used two-way mirrors to communicate with each other when they were placed in separate detentions (OP38).
Sirius gives the mirror to Harry when Harry returns to Hogwarts at the end of his fifth-year Christmas Holidays, telling Harry to communicate with him whenever Professor Snape gave him a hard time. Harry, however, places the package in his pocket and forgets about it, resolving not to use it (OP24).
Harry finds his two-way mirror in his trunk after Sirius' death, and attempts to use it to communicate with his godfather, but cannot. Frustrated and upset, Harry throws the mirror into his trunk, where it shatters (OP38).
