Sybill Patricia Trelawney is the Divination teacher at Hogwarts. Though she spouts obviously fake predictions of death and doom quite frequently - according to Minerva McGonagall, she predicts a student's death each year - she is known to have made two accurate prophecies.

The first true prophecy she made was about who could cause Lord's Voldemort downfall (later, it was discovered that this prophecy referred to Harry Potter) (OP37). The second one predicted Wormtail's return to his master side, and that his help would allow the Dark Lord to rise again (PA16).

Although Sybill is frequently shown as a fake seer, her intuition works above the average. She knows beforehand that someone will leave her class around Easter on Harry's third year, and that something that Lavender Brown fears is about to happen (PA6). Although she makes the wrong assumptions about Harry's birth date, the description she gives for people born in mid-winter (short in stature, dark-haired, suffering great losses while still a child) does fit Voldemort's history.
