Summary
Chapter 3, The Dursleys Departing, opens with Uncle Vernon cominng home and immediately yelling at Harry to come downstairs so they can talk. Harry had previously explained to his aunt and uncle that they were in danger from Voldemort since the protective charms on the house were going to stop working on Harry's seventeenth birthday. Uncle Vernon originally had agreed to go into hiding and be protected by the Order but now he is thinking of changing his mind because he doesn't believe it and he thinks it is a plot to get the Dursleys' house. Harry responds by saying that he has a house of his own that Sirius left him and doesn't need the Dursleys' house as well. Then Harry and Uncle Vernon talk about who is after them and who will protect them. Once Dudley says that he is going with the Order members the family agrees and it is settled. Then Dedalus Diggle and Hestia Jones show up and are ready to take the Dursleys when Dudley asks why Harry isn't going and says a few things that show that he cares and might even love Harry. He wants to know where Harry is going and is saying that Harry is not a waste of space even though he previously never thought this or at least never showed it. Then the family said their goodbyes they leave the house.
