Terry Boot is a Ravenclaw who started attending Hogwarts in the same year as Harry Potter. Some Ravenclaws stood to shake his hand when he joined their ranks (PS7).
Boot participated in Gilderoy Lockhart's Duelling Club, and a spell caused him to bleed; Lockhart recommended that he should pinch the affected area (probably his nose) so that it would stop bleeding (CS11).
Terry was sent to the Headmaster's office in his fourth year for unknown reasons; while he was there, one of the portraits told him that Harry Potter had killed a Basilisk with Gryffindor's sword. A year later, Terry mentioned this story to Harry, who confirmed it.
In 1995, Terry Boot attended the first Dumbledore's Army meeting in the Hog's Head along with Anthony Goldstein, Michael Corner, Ginny and Zacharias Smith (OP16). Terry continued to go to DA meetings, and was effectively Disarmed by his study partner in the group's first gathering in the Room of Requirement.
When Hermione gave DA members the fake Galleons that the group would use to communicate, Terry was astounded by her ability to cast a Protean Charm, a NEWT-level spell (OP19).
In the journey back home, Terry was one of the DA members who helped the Trio hex Draco, Crabbe and Goyle; when they finished, the three Slytherins resembled giant, oozing slugs (OP38).
Boot was in Slughorn's Potions class in his sixth year (HBP9).
In his seventh year, while Hogwarts was under the control of Severus Snape, Alecto and Amycus Carrow, Terry was allowed to return to school, which implies that he had the necessary Blood Status (DH29, DH11). Near the end of the school year, he got a beating from one of the Carrows for yelling about the Trio's Gringotts break-in during dinner in the Great Hall.
Boot was one of the students who hid in the Room of Requirement with Neville Longbottom to escape the Carrows. He was there when Harry, Ron and Hermione used the passageway from the Hog's Head to enter the castle, and was one of the Ravenclaws who gave Harry information about Ravenclaw's diadem (DH29).
Terry Boot once borrowed Quidditch through the Ages from the Hogwarts library, and was due to return the book on August 21 (QAb).
