Teddy Remus Lupin is the only son of Remus and Nymphadora Lupin. Like his mother, he is a Metamorphmagus, bearing no trace of his father's lycanthropy (BLC). He is named after his grandfather Ted Tonks, who was killed by Voldemort's followers shortly before his birth (DH22). After the death of his parents in the Battle of Hogwarts, he was raised by his grandmother Andromeda Tonks, spending a lot of time with his godfather Harry Potter's family (BLC).
At the beginning of Nymphadora's pregnancy in August 1997, Remus left her and his unborn child. He feared that Teddy would inherit his lycanthropy, and that his wife and son would become social outcasts like himself if he remained with them. He offered Harry Potter to help him in his quest; Harry rejected this and accused Remus of cowardly abandoning his child (DH11). Lupin returned to his wife before Teddy's birth (DH22).
Teddy was born in April 1998. His hair started changing colour from birth, much like that of his mother; it was black when he was born, but it turned ginger an hour later. Shortly after his birth, his father went to Shell Cottage to give the news to Bill and Fleur Weasley and the Trio. He was ecstatic at his son's birth and looked years younger than usual. He asked Harry to become godfather (DH25).
During the Battle of Hogwarts on May 2, 1998, both Remus and Nymphadora went to Hogwarts, leaving Teddy with Andromeda (DH30, DH31). Remus showed a picture of his son to Fleur Weasley shortly before the battle began; in the picture, Teddy had bright turquoise hair (DH30).
Teddy's parents died in the battle (DH33), and he was raised by his grandmother Andromeda Tonks (BLC). He usually goes to Harry and Ginny Potter's for dinner about four times a week; James, Albus Severus and Lily are very fond of him (DHE).
After his graduation, on September 1, 2017, he went to Platform Nine and Three-Quarters to see Victoire, his girlfriend, off; James caught them snogging and was quite shocked. Teddy told him to leave them alone, and James ran to share the news with his parents and siblings. They were delighted to hear that Teddy might actually join the family. James offered to share a room with Albus so that Teddy could move in with the Potters, but Harry would hear none of it; the prospect of Albus and James sharing a room was daunting (DHE).
