Sorting Ceremony

The Sorting ceremony takes place at the beginning of every year to sort the first years into their corresponding house. There are four different houses at Hogwarts: Ravenclaw, Slytherin, Gryffindor and Hufflepuff.
The Sorting Hat is the one who places the students into their houses. In the opening banquet in the first day at school, the first years have to put the Hat on. The Hat will see the student's mind and will chose what it think is appropiate. The Hat has the habit of inventing a new welcoming song every year, in which the story of how Hogwarts was founded is always explained.
The Sorting Hat used to belong to Godric Gryffindor, but was bewitched by the four founders so it could do it's job.
After the Sorting ceremony has come to an end, the banquet commences and the newcomers as well as the old students eat dinner.
