The Golden Snitch is one of the four balls used in Quidditch; to be more specific, the most important one.
It is, obviously, golden and has the size of a walnut, with silvery wings. Its purpose is to avoid being caught by any of the Seekers. Once the Snitch is caught, the game officialy ends and hundred and fifty points are awarded to the Seeker's team.
In the past, a Golden Snidget, a fast-moving magical bird, replaced the Snitch. Bowman Wright invented the Snitch after the Golden Snidget being prohibited for Quidditch in the 1300s.
