Rupert Grint is the actor who plays Ron Weasley in the Harry Potter movies.

His part in Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone marked his debut as an actor, earned him international fame, and an invitation to play Allan A. Allen in the movie Thunderpants.

Rupert has said, regarding the auditioning process for his role as Harry Potter's best friend, in an interview with CBBC Newsround, "I found out that you could audition by sending a picture of yourself and some information to Newsround. I did my own video with me, first of all, pretending to be my drama teacher who unfortunately was a girl and then I did a rap of how I wanted to be Ron and then I made my own script thing up and sent it off." [1]

In 2006, Grint also acted in the British film Driving Lessons, co-starring Julie Walters, who plays Mrs. Weasley in the Harry Potter movies.

In March 2007, it was officially announced Rupert had signed to work on all Harry Potter movies. On the matter, the boy commented, "Ron Weasley has become a big part of my life, and not just because we have both got ginger hair! I've been so proud to play him, and loved every second of being part of this world. I am really looking forward to filming the last two films and being back with my 'Weasley family' and, of course, to seeing my good friends Emma and Dan." [2]
