Remus/Sirius, also known as Wolfstar and One True Way, is a fanon slash ship involving Remus Lupin and Sirius Black. It has an enormous following, a significant part of which is directly related to The Shoebox Project (see below).

Canon interaction

In the Harry Potter books, Sirius and Remus are best friends while at Hogwarts. The pair, along with Peter Pettigrew and James Potter, formed the infamous group known as the Marauders. Among other proofs of friendship, the fact that the other three became Animagi in order to accompany Remus (who is a werewolf) on full moon nights is notable.

After the four left Hogwarts, they became Order members. They continued to be close. Nevertheless, at the end of Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, Sirius states that, when suspicion arose that there was a traitor among the Potters' closest friends, James, Lily and Sirius doubted Remus' loyalty. This presumaby generated some tension, and their friendship must have become somewhat strained.

After Lily and James' deaths at the hand of Voldemort, it seemed certain that Sirius was the traitor. He received a life sentence in Azkaban. Remus only met his old friend twelve years later; Moony was then a Hogwarts Defence Against the Dark Arts teacher, and Sirius, a dangerous fugitive.

At the Shrieking Shack, the two had a confrontation, in the course of which it became clear that Peter, not Sirius, had been the Potters' Secret Keeper and therefore was to be blamed for their murder. Remus and Sirius reconciled. Over the next couple of years, they remained close friends, until Sirius' death at the Ministry of Magic at the end of the Trio's fifth year.

Remus/Sirius fanfiction is most commonly found in the Drama or Angst genres, but Romance and Humour fics are also frequent. Their relationship is often developed in Lily/James fics as well.

Fanon tends to see Remus as a calm, collected and somewhat nerdy man or teenager, clashing in all aspects with Sirius' expansive, slightly insane and unconventional demeanour. Despite their unlikely friendship, they develop feelings for each other, which tend to be repressed by Remus and either goofily flaunted or somehow ignored by Sirius until a given breaking point.

Due to the fact that most Remus/Sirius fanfiction is easily compatible with everything the books have revealed this far about the pair (except for, perhaps, HBP's Remus/Tonks revelation), the ship is considered by many of its fans to be practically canon.

Most characterisation clichés and major development points in Remus and Sirius' relationship can be traced to a common source: The Shoebox Project, an immensely popular fic considered by many to be "The Bible" of the pairing.
