Please-men

Please-men is the incorrect name Amos Diggory uses for police men. As a member of the wizarding world, where the law is upheld by Aurors and the Magical Law Enforcement Squad, he is not familiar with the Muggle term.

Amos makes a Floo call to The Burrow in the morning of September 1, 1994 to alert Arthur Weasley that Mad-Eye Moody is in trouble for causing a racket that attracted the attention of his Muggle neighbours. He tells him that the neighbours called "those what-d'you-call-'ems - please-men" (GF11).
