Character:Pius Thicknesse

Pius Thicknesse is a wizard who was Head of the Ministry Department of Magical Law Enforcement by the summer of 1997. He is long-haired man with streaked hair (DH12, DH31).

The Death Eater Yaxley placed him under the Imperius Curse, with great difficulty (DH1). On Voldemort's orders, Thicknesse made ia an imprisonable offence to connect number four, Privet Drive to the Floo Network, to Apparate in or out or place a Portkey in the house; this made it clear to the Order of the Phoenix that he was under the Dark Lord's control. Order members were therefore forced to fly Harry Potter out of the house (DH4).

When Voldemort took over the Ministry of Magic on August 1, 1997, Rufus Scrimgeour was murdered, and Thicknesse replaced him as Minister for Magic (DH11).
