Snape's Grudge is the fourteenth chapter of Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban.

Another escape

No Gryffindors sleep that night; they all remain in the common room until McGonagall announces that Sirius has escaped again. Flitwick teaches the front doors to recognise the convict. Filch boards up every crack in the walls.

Sir Cadogan is sent back to the seventh floor, and the Fat Lady returns to the portrait hole. She is restored, but still very nervous, and demanded protection in return for her services; big security trolls are placed near her, and they monitor the nearby corridors carrying clubs.

The one-eyed witch remains unguarded—Fred and George appear correct to have assumed that the caretaker doesn't know about the passageway. Harry wonders whether they should inform the teachers; Ron points out that Honeydukes hasn't been broken into.

Ron has become a celebrity, and retells the story of the previous night with great detail to anyone who cares to listen (PA13). The two boys have been wondering why Sirius didn't attack Harry after silencing Ron.

Neville

McGongall has prevented Neville from visiting Hogsmeade ever again, in addition to a detention and to a ban over all Gryffindors from giving him the password. He waits every night for someone to let him in.

Two days after the break-in, Neville receives a Howler from his grandmother. A big barn owl brings it. Ron advises him to run, and the boy obeys. The letter goes off in the Entrance Hall, and Augusta berates him for bringing shame to the family.

Hedwig bites Harry's wrist to call his attention to the letter she's brought; the owl eats Neville's cornflakes while Harry reads a note from Hagrid inviting the two boys for tea at six o'clock. In the letter, the gamekeeper orders them to wait in the Entrance Hall, since they are allowed on their own.
