On Harry Potter's first Potions lesson, Snape asks him several questions to which the boy does not know the answer. Harry looks up dittany in the book while doing some of homework assigned for the Easter holidays of his first year at Hogwarts in the library (PS14).

During the 1994 summer holidays, Ginny Weasley mends her copy of One Thousand Magical Herbs and Fungi with Spellotape (GF10).

In a fifth-year Potions lesson, in which Harry's class is ordered to make a Strengthening Solution, the Trio consults their copies of One Thousand Magical Herbs and Fungi (OP17).

One afternoon in June 1997, when Harry is supposed to be working on his Herbology homework, Ron consults a copy of this book (HBP25), possibly for Herbology as well.
