Merlin's Famous Wizard card.

Merlin, also known known as the Prince of Enchanters, is the most famous wizard of all time. He was part of King Arthur's Court, and was Morgan le Fay's archenemy.

Merlin is also the creator of the Order of Merlin, a group of wizards with an interest in helping Muggles, which promptly made rules banning the use of magic upon them (FW).

Merlin's Famous Wizard card was one of the first ones in Harry Potter's collection, as the boy got it on his first trip aboard the Hogwarts Express (PS6).

Merlin's lasting fame is exemplified by various expressions that refer to him. "Merlin's beard!", "Merlin's pants!" and "in the name of Merlin" are common exclamations in the wizarding world, somewhat akin to the Muggle "God!" (GF6, GF25, OP7, OP9, OP13, OP17, OP20, OP24, OP27, OP36, HBP1, HBP22, HBP23, DH6, DH8, DH12). More exotic expressions mention "Merlin's saggy left..." and "Merlin's most baggy Y-fronts" (DH6, DH12).
