The Peverell Ring is a golden ring with the black Resurrection Stone on it. It belonged to Salazar Slytherin before being passed down the Gaunt family to Marvolo Gaunt. When Marvolo Gaunt went to Azkaban, he left the ring behind, and it temporarily went to Morfin Gaunt before Tom Marvolo Riddle, AKA Voldemort, stole it and turned it into a Horcrux (HBP10, HBP23).

The ring carried the Resurrection Stone, which was one of the Deathly Hallows. The Resurrection Stone didn't work if you only put the ring in your finger; one had to turn it three times in your hand to be able to use it (BLC).

The ring carried a curse after Voldemort turned it into a Horcrux. Dumbledore found the ring before he went to pick up Harry from the Dursleys in the beginning of HBP. Dumbledore's hand was blackened and cursed because of his temptation to use the ring to bring back his family.
