The Leaky Cauldron is a pub in London that is noticed only by wizards. The friendly Tom is the current landlord. The pub was founded by Daisy Dodderidge, its first landlady (FW).

The back of the pub hides a gateway to Diagon Alley; in order to enter it, one must tap a certain three up and two across from a dustbin. Rubeus Hagrid, a frequent client of the pub, takes Harry Potter to buy school supplies in the Alley before the boy starts studying at Hogwarts; Harry meets several wizards in the pub, including Quirinus Quirrell and Dedalus Diggle (PS5).

There is also an inn above The Leaky Cauldron, where Harry Potter stays in the summer before his third year after he runs away from number four, Privet Drive (PA4). Albus Dumbledore and Elphias Doge also spend the last night before their trip to Greece in the inn; an owl arrives, informing them that Kendra Dumbledore died, and Albus chooses not to travel. Elphias delays his departure in order to stay for the funeral (DH18).

After the Fall of the Ministry, when Death Eaters invade The Burrow, Hermione Granger reasons that the Trio cannot go to the Leaky Cauldron, presumably because dark wizards now watch the place (DH9).
