Lavender as a first-year
She was the first student to be Sorted into the House in 1991.
Lavender becomes close friends with Parvati Patil, but neither of them become close to Hermione Granger. It's Parvati who tells Lavender that Hermione is crying in the girls' bathroom on their first Halloween at Hogwarts; the conversation is overheard by Harry, and leads him and Ron Weasley to find Hermione and fight a troll (PS10).
Lavender as a second-year
Lavender generally sleeps during History of Magic classes, but when Hermione ask Professor Binns about the legend of the Chamber of Secrets she decides to pay attention to what's being said (CS9).
Lavender as a third-year
As she becomes older, Lavender develops the habit of giggling and squealing with her best friend, which increases when they start to have Divination lessons. She becomes even more interested in the subject after Professor Sybill Trelawney predicts that something that she fears will happen on October 16, 1993 and she recieves a letter from home on this same day telling her that her bunny Binky died (PA6, PA7).
Lavender asks Harry to remember his tea leaves when the boy volunteers to aproach a Hippogriff, after being deeply impressed by the divination professor's annoucement that the boy has the Grim as a omen (PA6). Even before her rabbit died, she and Parvati started going to Trelawney's room during lunch times, and coming back with superior looks on their faces (PA7).
When Hermione decides drop divination, Lavender points out that the professor predicted that someone would be leaving them forever around easter (PA15). Later she brags about her talent in divination, claiming to have seen many things on the crystal ball (PA17).
Lavender as a fourth-year
On Hagrid's first lesson in their fourth year, Lavender is one of the first students to reach for the Blast-Ended Skrewts. She squeals 'eurgh' on first seing them, a sound which "just about summed up the Blast-Ended Skrewts, in Harry's opinion" (GF13). Later she gets very excited when they start covering astrology in divination classes, and when the professor tell her that her hidden planet is Uranus, Ron asks her if he can see it (GF13).
When Barty Crouch Jr. is teaching Defense Against the Dark Arts while impersonating Mad-Eye Moody, he decides to curse the whole class with Imperius Curse. Lavender is forced to imitate a squirrel (GF14).
Her giggling increases considerably when Professor McGonagall tells them about the upcoming Yule Ball, especially when the teacher tell them it is an opportunity to let their hair down. She attends the party with Seamus Finnigan but their relationship doesn't develop after that (GF22).
Lavender gets really happy when Professor Grubbly-Plank brings unicorns to their Care of Magical Creatures class while Hagrid had decided to resign (GF24).
Lavender as a fifth-year
After Cedric Diggory's death in the third task of the Triwizard Tournament and Dumbledore's annoucement about Lord Voldemort's re-birth, Lavender returns to the school after a summer of reading the Daily Prophet. As Harry seats in the Gryffindor table in the start of term feast, she stops talking to her best friend to greet him friendly, trying not to let Harry notice that they were talking about him (OP11). After the feast, when they are back to their dormitories, Lavender tells Hermione that she doesn't believe Harry, but the Hermione shuts her up (OP12).
Lavender and Parvati often laugh at Luna Lovegood's eccentric choices of jewellery, especially after seeing the Ravenclaw wearing her raddish earrings on her way out of Herbology class, but after Ernie Macmillan claims that he believes on Harry's word about Voldemort, Lavender stops smiling (OP13).
Although she said she didn't believe in Harry when she first came back to school, she attends the meeting in the Hog's Head when Dumbledore's Army is created. She arrives with Dean Thomas and Neville Longbottom, closely followed by Parvati and Padma. She seems a bit impressed when she learns that Harry killed a Basilisk using Godric Gryffindor's sword (OP16).
Both Parvati and Lavender are deeply disappointed to learn that Hagrid is back (OP21). The girls are deeply unhappy about Umbridge's putting Professor Trelawney on probation, when the High Inquisitor decides to sack the divination teacher, they hold each other and cry during the professor's argument. Even if they still visit Trelawney, the girls can't help but being happy about having Firenze as their new teacher (OP26). Lavender has a hard time on trying to produce a patronus (OP27).
After Umbridge send aurors to capture Hagrid and McGonagall is hit by seven different stunning spells, Lavender says she hopes her Head of House will be alright, in a very tearful mood (OP30).
Lavender as a sixth-year
On the start of her sixth year, Lavender starts to act differently around Ron. She laughs at his least funny comments, and smiles to the boy every time he passes. When the boy attends the tryouts for Gryffindor's keeper, she screams "Good Luck" from the seats, and looks annoyed by Hermione's closeness to the red haired (HBP11). Still, on the first match of season, against Slytherin she tries to raise the boy's moral, saying that he will be brilliant.
After winning the game, and having an argument with Hermione, the boy decides to make a move, and they spend most of the celebration party kissing each other in their common room. When they decide to go somewhere more private, they walk in on Harry and Hermione talking in a empty classroom, and Lavender leaves, letting the trio alone. Hermione, who had already invited Ron to Slughorn's christmas party, is very annoyed and makes the birds she had conjured attack the boy (HBP14).
After that, Lavender starts a very physical relationship with Ron, which often embarasses both Harry and Parvati, while Hermione refuses to stay on the common room while they are snogging. After Hermione announces that she will go Slughorn's party with Cormac McLaggen, both Lavender and Parvati spend a while talking about the news (HBP15).
During the christmas break, Lavender sends Ron a golden chain with the words "My sweetheart" written on it, which disgusts her boyfriend (HBP16). She starts calling the boy Won-Won and to cling to him even more. That starts to annoy Ron, and the boy tries to be away from her as much as possible (HBP17). When Ron accidentally eats chocolate cauldrons mixed with a love potion that Romilda Vane tried to use on Harry, he mistreats his girlfriend and Lavender looks very annoyed (HBP18). As the boy drinks poisoned mead and is sent to the Hospital Wing she complains that Harry didn't warn her about the incident, and keeps on following him everyhere and trying to talk to him about Ron and her relationship with him. After the boy asks her why she doesn't ask Ron instead of him, Lavender tells him that she didn't manage to see Ron awake while on the infirmary (HBP19). She starts to display signs of jealousy at Ron and Hermione's friendship, and has a big argument with the boy when he doesn't tell her when he's leaving the Hospital Wing and, what annoys Lavender even more, have Hermione with him when going to his first breakfast out of it (HBP20).
When Harry leaves the boys room under the Invisibility Cloak with Ron and Hermione, Lavender starts making a scene in the common room (HBP22). They break up, and Lavender spends a while very sad and crying every time she sees the couple interacting (HBP24).
