Killing Curse

The Killing Curse is the most serious of the three Unforgivable Curses.
The spell presents itself in the form of a green flash; it kills the victim instantly, causing no physical damage other than death itself (GF14).
There is no known counter-curse for Avada Kedavra. Harry Potter was the only person who managed to survive it (GF14); according to Dumbledore (PS17), the sacrifice of the boy's mother invoked ancient magic, which Voldemort had overlooked (GF33). The Killing Curse is used regularly by Voldemort and his followers.
