Summary

Chapter 2, In Memoriam, opens with Harry thinking about how "It was stupid, pointless, irritating beyond belief that he still had four days left of being unable to perform magic...". Then we find out that earlier in the day, Harry had started completely emptying his trunk for Hogwarts for the first time in six years. Each year Harry had only used some of the stuff in the trunk but never fully emptied it until now. Harry is cleaning out his trunk because of he will be going on a quest to find Voldemort's Horcruxes. Some of the items Harry decides to bring with him include his Muggle clothing, Invisibility Cloak, the Marauder's Map, and R.A.B.'s locket. After this Harry starts looking for a certain issue of the Daily Prophet which contained an article written by Elphias Doge in memory of Albus Dumbledore, as well as an interview with Rita Skeeter about her upcoming biography about Dumbledore. While Doge's article makes Dumbledore look good, the interview with Skeeter makes him look bad.

After reading Doge's article, which talks about Dumbledore's youth as well as when he was older, Harry realizes that he really didn't know Dumbledore as well as he thought he did. After reading Skeeter's article Harry becomes upset because it insulted someone that he knew was a good person.

After he finishes reading the articles, Harry looks at a piece of the enchanted mirror that Sirius Black had given him and sees a bright blue eye that looked just like Dumbledore's. However it only lasts for a second and afterwards, Harry thinks he just imagined it because he had just been thinking about Dumbledore and he wanted him to be alive again.
