Hover Charm

The Hover Charm is a spell that makes objects levitate.

Dobby, on an attempt to prevent Harry Potter from going back to Hogwarts, casts the Hover Charm on Aunt Petunia's violet pudding, levitating it off the top of the fridge and later dropping it on the kitchen floor, causing mayhem at number four, Privet Drive. Harry receives a warning from the Improper Use of Magic Office because of this (CS2).

Hermione Granger uses the Hover Charm in order to lift Harry off the floor and onto his bunk inside the tent after the two escape Voldemort's attack in Godric's Hollow (DH18).

While at the Lovegoods' house, Hermione uses the spell in order to free Ron Weasley from the pile of wreckage below which the boy is stuck. Xenophilius later casts the Hover Charm on the printing press that was blocking the stairs to the second floor of the circular house (DH21).
