Hogwarts Governors

The Hogwarts governors are a group of twelve wizards who have some inference over the happenings at Hogwarts. They were responsible for suspending Albus Dumbledore after the Chamber of Secrets incidents of 1992 and 1993 (CS14). Lucius Malfoy was one of the governors at the time; after Ginny Weasley was taken into the Chamber, the other eleven governors wrote to Dumbledore, asking him to return and claiming that Lucius had threatened them in order to get their signatures on the order of suspension (CS18).

After Dumbledore's death on school premises, following Filius Flitwick's suggestion, Minerva McGonagall decided to consult the governors so that they could decide whether Hogwarts should open the following year (HBP29).
