Hijacking
From UnknowableWiki
Hijacking is a regular roomie's main activity, right up there with fanfiction writing and reading.
Concept
Roomies use the verb 'to hijack' in three non-mutually exclusive senses:
- To make a comment on any given thread that is merely marginally related to the original poster's intented subject.
- To make an entirely random comment on any given thread that has absolutely nothing to do with the original subject.
- To reply to the aforementioned comments, thus starting a series of comments that makes everyone forget what the subject discussed once was. This can be especially distracting in forums like those of Unknowable Room.
History
Most roomies' addiction to this terrible yet effective method of procrastination began back at The Great Break, the LiveJournal community that eventually originated Unknowable Room archive. Eventually, the main hijackers decided to have their own little break and create a community for that purpose only: Hijackers Anon.
When Unknowable Room was created, a Hijacking forum was placed for that purpose only, and hijacking was forbidden elsewhere, for the sake of organisation and everyone's sanity.
