Character:Gregorovitch

Gregorovitch was a well-reputed European wandmaker; many wizards considered him to be better than Ollivander (though in Britain, Ollivander is considered superior) (DH8). He also possessed the Elder Wand at some point; it was, however, stolen from him by Gellert Grindelwald (DH24).

Gregorovitch presumably retired around 1987; Viktor Krum's wand was one of the last he made (DH8). The full range of materials he used to make wands is unknown; he at least used dragon heartstring and hornbeam, the components of Krum's wand (GF18).

Lord Voldemort, hunting for the Elder Wand, traced the wandmaker through Europe, having heard from Ollivander that Gregorovitch had possessed the wand (DH7, DH24). After torturing Gregorovitch for the wand's whereabouts and learning that Grindelwald had stolen it, Voldemort killed him (DH14).
