Gorgons

Gorgons are mythical creatures from Ancient Greece. They are vicious female monsters whose looks can turn a human to stone. Their appearance and number varies in different myths; most well known is the story of the three Gorgons Medusa, Stheno and Euryale (WP).

Rubeus Hagrid uses the expression "Galloping Gorgons" (PS4). This might be an indication that Gorgons do exist in the wizarding world, together with other Greek mythical creatures like centaurs, Sirens, griffins, Chimaeras, etc. However, this is not directly confirmed in canon.
