Dress Robes

Dress robes are an item of clothing worn by witches and wizards on formal occasions. All Hogwarts students above the fourth year were instructed to buy dress robes before the school year of 1994, so that they could attend the Yule Ball (GF10, GF22, GF23).

All Hogwarts students also wore dress robes for Albus Dumbledore's funeral, in 1997 (HBP30).
