Double-ended newts are magical creatures that are kept as pets by wizards. When Harry Potter, Ron Weasley and Hermione Granger enter the Magical Menagerie on August 31, 1993, they have to wait because the clerk is advising a customer on the care of double-ended newts (PA4).
