From UnknowableWiki
The Department of Magical Games and Sports is the division of the Ministry of Magic responsible for all sports-related regulation. It was formed in 1750, as a direct response to the 1692 International Statute of Wizarding Secrecy, which made every Ministry of Magic responsible for concealing the magical sports played in its territory (QA4, QA6).
Under the leadership of Ludo Bagman, this department was responsible for the regulation of the Quidditch World Cup edition of 1994, hosted by England (GF7), and the Triwizard Tournament of the same year; the Department of International Magical Co-operation was also involved in both events.
This department is also in charge of keeping Quidditch hidden from Muggles. Its installations are located on the Basement Level 7 of the Ministry building (OP7).
