Democratic Republic of the Congo

The Democratic Republic of the Congo (not to be confused with the Republic of the Congo) is the third-largest country in Africa. It is in Central Africa, but is economically and regionally associated with Southern Africa. The DRC gained its independence from Belgium in 1960 (WP).
