Dark Force Defence League

The Dark Force Defence League is a Defence organisation; Gilderoy Lockhart was alledgedly a League member (CS6).

An anonymous member of the Dark Force Defence League was a source for a Rita Skeeter article, entitled "Harry Potter: 'Disturbed and Dangerous'", and was quoted as saying that he viewed wizards who could speak Parseltongue (also known as Parselmouths) as people who should be investigated. The reason he gave for this declaration was that he would find it "highly suspicious" for anyone to be able to converse with serpents, because they are commonly tied to the darkest forms of Dark Magic and "evildoers." This statement referred to Harry in particular, because he went on to condemn anyone who would choose to associate with werewolves and giants, citing that they would most likely have a penchance for savagery (GF31).
