Daisy roots are one of the ingredients necessary to brew a Shrinking Solution.

When the Trio learns this potion, in a third-year Potions class, Draco asks Snape for help handling his ingredients, claiming that the injury Buckbeak had inflicted on him made it far too painful for him to do so himself. On Snape's orders, Ron Weasley grudgingly cuts up Draco's daisy roots; Draco notices that Ron is handling the roots without the necessary attention, chopping them in uneven bits. When he complains to the teacher, Snape orders Ron and Draco to switch roots. Ron is very upset, because he had cut up his roots with extreme care (PA7).
