Chips

Chips are deep-fried strips of potato. They are known as french fries in North America, though in regions such as Tokyo, Japan, where chips is the common term, thin chips are referred to as french fries. The side dish accompanies many meals, but in the United Kingdom chips are often served with fish (WP).
