Character:Ted Tonks

Ted Tonks was a Muggle-born wizard who married Andromeda Black. She was disowned and burnt off the Black family tree because of their union.

Ted was a fair-haired, big-bellied wizard. His daughter Nymphadora described him as a slob (OP3).

He and his wife were tortured with the Cruciatus Curse on August 1, 1997. After Voldemort took over the Ministry of Magic, the Death Eaters were able to break down the protective spells surrouding the Tonks' home. The wanted to get information on Harry's whereabouts. Neither Andromeda nor Tom suffered lasting damage from the torture (DH9).

When Harry, Hermione, and Ron were on the run from Voldemort, they overheard Ted while on a riverbank in Wales; he, too, was on the run because he was an unregistered Muggle-born, and teamed up with Dean Thomas, Dirk Cresswell, and two goblins called Griphook and Gornuk (DH15).

Ted was announced as a casualty of war on the radio programme Potterwatch (DH22).
