Sir Patrick Delaney-Podmore is a ghost and the Head of the Headless Hunt. He is a large ghost who commonly carries his bearded head under his arm. He is a jester, and seemed to be popular with the ghosts who attended Nearly Headless Nick's Deathday party.

Sir Patrick wrote a letter to Nearly Headless Nick denying Nick's application to join the Headless Hunt, stating that he did not fulfill the mandatory requirements—it would be impossible for Nick to participate in the hunt's regular activities, such as Head Polo.

Nick was greatly displeased to receive this letter, and when speaking to Harry Potter about it he scornfully referred to Sir Patrick as "Sir Properly Decapitated-Podmore".

When Harry, along with Ron and Hermione, arrived at Nick's Deathday party, Nick asked Harry to mention to Sir Patrick that he thought Nick was extremely scary and impressive. When Harry complied, Patrick guessed at once that Nick had requested him to say so.

Nick was about to give a speech when several headless horsemen arrived; a hunting horn, blown by Sir Patrick, announced their entrance. Most beings attending the party cheered, and laughed when Patrick lifted his head high in the air to see everyone. He greeted Nick with a jesting "Nick! How are you? Head still hanging in there?" and gave a theatrical jump of surprise when he saw the Trio; his head fell off once more, and everybody laughed. Noticing Nick's exasperated attitude, Sir Patrick mentioned that it was due to his refusal to let Nick join the Hunt.

Moments later, Nick attempted to start his speech once more; he went to the podium and started speaking, but no one payed him attention, because Sir Patrick and other Hunt members had started a game of Head Hockey and all partygoers were watching them. Nick gave up on his last attempt to speak when Sir Patrick's head rapidly slid past him, and everybody cheered (CS8).
