Seamus Finnigan is a Gryffindor in the Trio's year from Ireland. He is half-blood, and close friends with Dean Thomas.
It's clear that Seamus has grown up in the wizarding world, as he boasted about his flying skills in his first year (PS9).
In his fifth year, he has a considerable row with Harry Potter because his mother believes the Daily Prophet's accusations that Harry is crazy and attention-seeking ((OP11). When Harry insults Seamus' mother, Seamus is instantly defensive, and it is some time before he and Harry are on speaking terms again. By the end of the year, however, Seamus joins Dumbledore's Army (OP27).
Seamus also attended the 1994 Quidditch World Cup; his favourite team is the Kenmare Kestrels.
