Pomona Sprout teaches Herbology at Hogwarts. She is also the Head of Hufflepuff. She has gray hair and is dirty most of the time because of her subject.
After the Petrifications caused by the Chamber of Secrets Basilisk, Sprout made a potion made of Mandrake roots in order to revive the victims (CS18).

On the night of the Battle of Hogwarts, McGonagall summoned Sprout to organise the castle's defences and to send underage Hufflepuffs home. Pomona met Minerva in a corridor, and tried to pursue the fleeing Severus Snape along with Flitwick and Minerva. However, he flew out the window, and the three professors were left behind to plan the battle efforts.
McGonagall asked Sprout to bring her students to the Great Hall and then aid in the battle, and Pomona started planning which magical herbs she could use to aid the Hogwartians; her first three ideas were Venomous Tentacula, Devil's Snare and Snargaluff pods (DH30).
