Character:Mulciber

Mulciber is a Death Eater who was sent to Azkaban after Voldemort fell. He escaped in the massive breakout that occured when the Dementors joined Lord Voldemort (OP25). He was one of the Death Eaters that Igor Karkaroff named in his trial; Barty Crouch, Sr. said that they had already arrested Mulciber at that time (GF30).

Mulciber participated in the Battle of the Department of Mysteries (OP30). He is a specialist in the Imperius Curse, and was very active during the First War (GF30).

At Hogwarts, Mulciber was in the same year as and was friends with Severus Snape. In their fifth year, Mulciber tried to cast a dark spell on Gryffindor Mary Macdonald to the greater purpose of personal enjoyment; Lily Evans cites this incident and points out Snape's relationship with Mulciber as a reason why they can no longer be friends. According to her, Mulciber and Avery had a very cruel sense of humour (DH33).

One of Voldemort's first Death Eaters was named Mulciber (HBP20); he was in all likelihood a relative of this wizard, and possibly his father.
