Character:Mrs. Crouch

Mrs. Crouch was the wife of Bartemius Crouch, Sr. and the mother of Bartemius Crouch, Jr..

After her son was sent to Azkaban, she became very ill. Her dying wish was to see Barty free; at her request, Crouch took her to the wizard prison to visit the Death Eater. There, she and Barty exchanged places with the help of Polyjuice Potion. Mrs. Crouch died soon afterwards and was buried by Dementors outside the fortress (GF27, GF35). She remembered to drink the potion regularly until the end, so her son's escape was never discovered.

Her husband kept their son at home constantly under the Imperius Curse, and hidden underneath an Invisibility Cloak, for several years (GF35).
