Character:Marietta Edgecombe

Marietta Edgecombe is a close friend of Cho Chang's. She has curly blond-reddish hair.

Marietta joined Dumbledore's Army and betrayed the group, informing Dolores Umbridge of its existence. As a result, her face broke out with pustules which spelled out the word "SNEAK"; Hermione Granger had jinxed the parchment on which members were listed in order to punish and reveal traitors. When Umbridge attempted to have her testify against the D.A., Kingsley Shacklebolt modified her memories with a last-minute Memory Charm (OP27).

Cho later claimed to Harry Potter that Marietta wasn't to blame for her betrayal, since her mother worked for the Ministry of Magic. Harry replied by pointing out that Ron Weasley's father, Arthur, was also an employee of the Ministry (OP28).

In the Trio's sixth year, the results of Hermione's spell were still present in Marietta's face, and she attempted to use make-up to cover them (HBP7). Eventually the jinx was lifted, but she still had a few scars on her face (BLC).
