Character:Lestrange, Sr.

Lestrange was one of the students who attended Hogwarts with Tom Marvolo Riddle. He was a member of the Slug Club; Slughorn once threatened him with a detention if Lestrange did not hand in an essay in time (HBP17). It is very likely that Lestrange belonged to Voldemort's circle of followers at Hogwarts. They were the first to call him by his new name, and some of them became the first Death Eaters after graduation (HBP17).

He is probably the father or another close relative of the Death Eaters Rodolphus and Rabastan Lestrange.
