Character:Hepzibah Smith

Hepzibah Smith is a direct descendent of Helga Hufflepuff. She collected valuable wizarding artifacts, such as Slytherin's locket and Hufflepuff's cup.

Tom Marvolo Riddle met her when he was working at Borgin and Burkes. She grew very fond of the young man, and eventually showed him the most valuable secret item in her collection: the locket. Riddle wanted it so badly that he murdered Smith to obtain it, along with the cup. Hepzibah's house-elf, the old Hokey, was blamed for her death (HBP20).
