Gilderoy Lockhart was the Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher in Harry Potter's second year. He is the bestselling author of works such as Wanderings with Werewolves , Travels with Trolls, Voyages with Vampires, Break with a Banshee, Gadding with Ghouls, Holidays with Hags, Year with the Yeti, Magical Me and Gilderoy Lockhart's Guide to Household Pests.

Characteristics
Gilderoy Lockhart is blonde and, according to his many fans, very handsome. He steals achievements from other wizards or witches and writes them down in his books, having performed Memory Charms to keep them from talking.
Childhood
He probably attended Hogwarts; nothing else is known.
Trivia
- While a teacher, Lockhart started a Duelling Club and taught everyone Expelliarmus (CS11).
- Harry Potter and Ron Weasley, before entering the Chamber of Secrets, exposed their teacher as a fraud. Lockhart tried to perform a Memory Charm on them with Ron's broken wand, and it backfired and he lost his own memory. He currently lives in St. Mungo's Hospital for Magical Maladies and Injuries.
- Lockhart has no prospect of making a full recovery from his accident (BLC).
