Gibbon was one of the Death Eaters who participated in the Battle of the Astronomy Tower. He set off the Dark Mark over the Astronomy Tower. He was accidentally killed later by a Killing Curse that was supposed to hit Remus Lupin (HBP29); Draco Malfoy stepped over his body on the way up to the Tower (HBP27).
