Frank Bryce was the gardener that tended to the Riddle House in Little Hangleton. He sustained an injury while fighting in World War II, which left him with a stiff leg.
After Mr. and Mrs. Riddle were murdered along with their son Tom, Frank was widely blamed by the inhabitants of the village. There were, however, no proofs that he had commited the crimes. His testimony that he had seen a teenager near the house—he did not know that it was Tom Marvolo Riddle, the actual murderer (HBP17)—was ignored.
He continued to live in a run-down cottage in the Riddle estate for many years, withstanding general mistrust and frequent taunting by other villagers. The new owner of the Riddle House continued to pay him to tend to the property's garden.
One night, Frank noticed a light inside the mansion and entered it to investigate. There he met Lord Voldemort and Peter Pettigrew, and was murdered (GF1). Harry Potter dreamt of the assassination (GF2).
Bryce's ghost appeared when the Priori Incantatem effect joined Harry and Voldemort's wand. He was astounded to see that the Dark Lord was, in fact, a wizard (GF34).
