Character:Flavius Belby

Flavius Belby (1715–1791) is the only wizard known to have survived a Lethifold attack (FW) in 1782, while vacationing at Papua New Guinea (FBAZ).

Flavius' written story of his encounter with the magical creature is presumably the earliest account of a Lethifold in history. Although the Lethifold believed him to be sleeping, Belby was attacked while still awake, and therefore managed to cast a Patronus Charm in time to repel the creature.

Prior to the adventure that made him famous, Belby had been voted the President of the local Gobstones Club (FBAZ).

It is possible that Flavius Belby is an ancestor of Marcus Belby, a fellow student of Harry Potter's at Hogwarts, his father Mr. Belby, and his uncle Damocles, inventor of the Wolfsbane Potion (HBP7).
