Euan Abercrombie is a Hogwarts student. Harry Potter spotted him—a small, frightened eleven-year-old boy—minutes before the Sorting began. Euan, who was the first student to be Sorted in 1995, was put in Gryffindor; his prominent ears were the only reason the Hat did not fall off his head.

All Gryffindors clapped, and Abercrombie made his way to the house table, staggering and looking clearly ashamed. After the feast was over, Ron Weasley and Hermione Granger, recently made Prefects, guided the first-years to the Gryffindor common room. Harry grinned at the group; a blonde boy who seemed to fear Harry whispered something in Euan's ear that made him, too, look terrified. This disheartened Harry (OP11).
