Bartemius Crouch, Jr. was the only son of Bartemius Crouch, Sr., a feared and well-known wizard. He was a Death Eater who, along with Bellatrix and Rodolphus Lestrange, tortured Frank and Alice Longbottom to the point of insanity. He also impersonated Alastor "Mad-Eye" Moody during most of Harry Potter's fourth year, effectively posing as a Defence Against the Dark Arts teacher and winning both Albus Dumbledore and Harry Potter's trust.
