Augusta Longbottom is the mother of Frank Longbottom. His son Neville lives with her (GF30).
Augusta raised Neville after his parents were tortured to insanity; for a long time, she did not believe that her grandson was magical, and when he first displayed signs of magic, she cried (PS7). She takes Neville to Platform Nine and Three-Quarters (PS6).
Augusta is known to own a barn owl, as she uses it to send Neville a Remembrall (PS9).
Augusta is often described as strict, constantly looking down on Neville for not displaying much of his father's outstanding talents. She displayed tenderness only once—when visiting Frank and his wife Alice at St. Mungo's (OP23).
Minerva McGonagall once mentioned that Augusta failed her Charms OWL (HBP9).
In the Battle of Hogwarts, Augusta was the last person to appear in the Room of Requirement through the passageway from the Hog's Head, sealing it shut. She inquired as to Neville's whereabouts; when told that he was fighting, she acted as though this were the only logical answer, and seemed proud of him; she then went to assist him (DH31).
