Andrew Kirke is a Gryffindor who played the position of Beater in the Gryffindor Quidditch team after Dolores Umbridge imposed a lifelong Quidditch ban on both Gryffindor Beaters, Fred and George Weasley.

Angelina Johnson, who selected the new Beaters, was unimpressed by Andrew Kirke and Jack Sloper's performance during tryouts—but they were better than the others that had volunteered, so the position went to them (OP21). Ron later mentioned that the Gryffindor team was appalling, and that the two Beaters were dreadful, even worse than Ron himself (OP25).

During Gryffindor's quick defeat to Hufflepuff, Kirke had a pitiful performance; when Zacharias Smith flew in his direction carrying the Quaffle, Kirke shrieked and fell off his broomstick. Ginny caught the Snitch twenty-two minutes into the match, causing Gryffindor to lose by only ten points.

Harry saw the Snitch near Kirke's ankle during the match. After the game, he lay in bed thinking that, had he still been the Gryffindor Seeker, he would have caught the Snitch earlier. If Ginny had done so, their team could have won (OP26).
