Character:Algie

Algie Longbottom is Neville Longbottom's great-uncle. It is not certain that Algie's surname really is Longbottom, he might also be a relative of Neville's mother, Alice. It is fair to assume that he, like everyone in the Longbottom family, is pure-blood.

Most of the family believed Neville to be a Squib when the boy was younger. Algie once pushed him off Blackpool pier to test his magical abilities, nearly causing the child to drown.

When Neville was eight years old, Algie hung him off the window, holding him by the ankles. When Enid offered Algie meringues, he accidentally let go of his great-nephew, and Neville bounced off the ground. Algie bought Neville a toad, probably Trevor, to celebrate the occasion (PS7).
